Export from Vologda Region to China has increased 1.5 times.

According to Governor Georgy Filimonov this is the result of the active development of mutually beneficial partnerships between the region and the provinces of the People's Republic of China.
"The volume of Vologda’s products exported to China increased by 56% in 2025. China took the third place among the partner countries in terms of exports, whereas a year earlier it occupied the fifth position. China ranks second in terms of trade turnover," said Vologda Region Governor Georgy Filimonov.
China is one of the key foreign markets for the Vologda Region’s products. The export structure is dominated by wood and wood products - 87%, copper - 4.8%, paper - 3.7%.
Cooperation with China has reached a new level after the conclusion of an agreement on the establishment of friendly relations between the Vologda Region Government and the Government of Shaanxi Province. Georgy Filimonov, Governor of the Vologda Region, and Zhao Gang, Governor of Shaanxi Province, signed the document during the working trip of Vologda delegation's to China last November.
As a follow-up to the agreements, it is planned to create a demonstration center for the products of Vologda’s timber industry in the city of Xi'an, China. It will open up wide opportunities for trade development and promotion of regional timber products to the Chinese market.
